While there is always going to be a consistent trickle of visitors to any metropolitan area no matter what is happening, there are always going to be busier times than others. Even in major cities such as Chicago and New York some amenities close during the harsh winter months. If you are prepared to endure some hard weather conditions and the transportation problems which often accompany them, you can have a city break at a cheaper rate.

The concept of offering a cheap rental during quieter periods can also help you to maximize the revenue from your own property investments. It is often a good idea to invest your money into vacation rental property, especially if you are someone who has a favorite location but still appreciates traveling to different places. You can buy your main home in the favorite place, and then trade it at certain times of the year to fund your travels to other locations. To make this happen you may need to offer a discount, but even a discounted income can pay for luxury accommodation in Asia or South America.

The possibility of cheap vacation rentals has receded somewhat with the rise of the Internet as it is now easier for buyers and sellers to be matched in a more perfect market. Nevertheless, the opportunities still appear from time to time as there are always occasions when a week cannot be sold for the regular price. If you get to know the local market in the area you want to visit you can often get a feel for when opportunities are likely to occur, and if you are a previous customer of a seller you can often gain a better deal. There are still possibilities for cheap vacation rentals.
